Doctor Wholittle???

We are abounding in animals lately. We have almost everything but fishes and mollusks, just about. Besides the birds and cats, we got a butterfly garden kits started back at the start of the month....those caterpillars came as very tinies, ate and ate, become chrysalids, and as of this morning, the last one finally emerged as a Painted Lady Butterfly. :) Just in time too as the ladybug larvae arrived in yesterday's mail!

A week ago, we visited Madrona Marsh for its Adopt-a-Turtle Day. We pledged to adopt 2 small outdoor desert tortoises, which are still pending, but we came home with 2 tiny baby diamondback terrapins (water turtles). Seeing as how they are aquatic and will eventually live in something like ponds, we named them Amy and Rory, Amy being the one that was more daring and inclined to escape...lol....Rory followed her lead so I think we did well in naming them. (Only Whovians will get that reference...or that the tortoises will be Abby & Connor...so Primeval.)

Thanks to all of the above, Twirly-Whirly will soon earn her Keepers pets badge. She has already earned her gardening badge. We got the material for sashes just a week ago and are waiting on the next meeting to divvy it up so she can sew her sash to display her badges, which are pins so the only sewing needed is for the sash itself (I kinda wish they'd made the badges as patches. )

We are busy preparing for a big day tomorrow: Beltane! We are holding a Mini May Day Revel complete with maypole and "bonfire" lol...our portable firepit... We'll be doing a butterfly release as part of the festivities!

Meanwhile, I am in discussion with another homeschool mom in regards for bartering my organizational inclinations for her to give T-W private voice lessons. That is still not so much a plan as a...thing...thing in progress...respect the thing! ;)
